Edward "Ned" Aldrich at Mountain Trails Gallery

Mountain Trails Gallery invites you to meet wildlife painter Edward "Ned" Aldrich at a reception showcasing his newest paintings on Friday June 5th from 5-8 pm. Mr. Aldrich is an artist dedicated to reaching beyond the realistic rendering of wildlife and the natural world. He is convinced that conveying the inherent being of an animal is integral to his work. His style breathes life into his subjects and invokes the viewer into feeling that he or she is actually a witness to the scene. The viewer is not left to simply look and appreciate, but is drawn into experiencing the essence of what is depicted. In short, his is an art of feeling as well as portrayal. Originally from New York City, Mr. Aldrich spent part of his childhood living in Colorado outside of Boulder where his fascination with the surrounding mountains, forests, and wildlife began to take root. "From early on, I was captivated by wildlife and nature" says Aldrich. His mother was a wildlife photographer whose images had been published in magazines such as National Geographic. With her encouragement and mentoring, Ned enrolled in a summer session at the Rhode Island School of Design. Upon completion he knew RISD was where he wanted to attend college. After graduating in 1987, Aldrich began the arduous journey of introducing himself to the world of galleries and shows. In didn't take long for him to be noticed and by 1991 he was juried into the Society of Animal Artists. Over the past fifteen years, Ned's work has been featured in many prestigious shows and auctions including the "Birds in Art" show in Wausau, WI, the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum Show, the GilcreaseMuseum, and Christie's Auction held in London, England. He has been featured in numerous magazines such as Wildlife Art, American Artists Magazine, Wildlife Journal, and Inform Magazine.
