Friday, September 4th is the first friday of the month. Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village will be open until 7pm with the SGA galleries staying open until 8:00pm.
ZAZU, the Soul of Paris" will perform on the Patio de las Campanas from 4:30pm - 7:30pm. Manouche jazz popularized by French gypsies, most notably, Django Reinhart exemplified the infectious swing, melancholy ballads and the dark tangos of Paris in the '30's. Known as the Quintette of the Hot Club of France, Django's various groups and Musette ensembles played the popular waltz style and other popular songs with the dark chromatic gypsy flavor and the swing articulation of the period. Full of arpeggios, glissandos, diminished chords and featuring 'La Pumpe', the strong accents on beats 2 and 4, the music was widely popular from the 1930's to 1950. Zazu, a gypsy trio featuring Ken Aurich and Larry Czarnecki on guitars from Flagstaff and Steve Douglas of Sedona on upright bass will bring this wonderful music to life. Please join us on Friday, September 4 and kick off the Labor Day weekend.
