Friday, September 4 - First Friday of the Month

Friday, September 4th is the first friday of the month. Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village will be open until 7pm with the SGA galleries staying open until 8:00pm.

ZAZU, the Soul of Paris" will perform on the Patio de las Campanas from 4:30pm - 7:30pm. Manouche jazz popularized by French gypsies, most notably, Django Reinhart exemplified the infectious swing, melancholy ballads and the dark tangos of Paris in the '30's. Known as the Quintette of the Hot Club of France, Django's various groups and Musette ensembles played the popular waltz style and other popular songs with the dark chromatic gypsy flavor and the swing articulation of the period. Full of arpeggios, glissandos, diminished chords and featuring 'La Pumpe', the strong accents on beats 2 and 4, the music was widely popular from the 1930's to 1950. Zazu, a gypsy trio featuring Ken Aurich and Larry Czarnecki on guitars from Flagstaff and Steve Douglas of Sedona on upright bass will bring this wonderful music to life. Please join us on Friday, September 4 and kick off the Labor Day weekend.

Arizona Shakespeare Company

Sunday, August 30th, we enjoyed two fun performances of Much Ado About Nothing performed in the Patio del Norte by the Arizona Shakespeare Company from Prescott. The production was performed by four actors who held a variety of rolls, changing costumes and props as they performed the play. Guests really enjoyed this light performance of Shakespeare and we hope you all enjoyed it as well. Now we are getting ready to kick off the Labor Day Weekend here in Sedona. Have a good one.

Sunday, August 30th - Much Ado About Nothing

As part of the 2009 Season of the Arizona Shakespeare Festival, Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village in Sedona, Arizona is pleased to host two FREE performances of William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, Sunday, August 30th at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. There are no tickets for this event - it is a first come, first serve production.Produced by the Arizona Classical Theater from Prescott, Arizona, Shakespeare’s romantic comedy, set in Messina, Sicily, concerns a pair of lovers named Claudio and Hero who are due to be married in a week. To pass the time before their wedding day, they conspire with Don Pedro, the Prince of Aragon, to trick their friends, Beatrice and Benedick, into confessing their love for one another. The prince's illegitimate brother, Don John, however, jealous of both Don Pedro's power and his affection for Claudio, plans to sabotage the coming wedding. It is hilarious and farcical in the best tradition of Shakespeare comedy. Tlaquepaque has a long history of hosting plays by the famous bard. The physical layout at Tlaquepaque with its vine covered parapet walls, large balconies and stone courtyards is the perfect setting to take one back to the time of Shakespeare.

News from Teri Hood

Hello again my precious friends and family,

This week was really hard, monday was more scary news day, and this week was back to back constant testing.

I have a fractured rib and the Oncologist is concerned that it could be in the bones. So, still alot of not knowing. She canceled my surgery for Aug 12th and I'm starting Chemo. today (friday). It is called inflammatory breast cancer and it has grown. We want to shrink the tumor and slow it down before she schedules another surgery.

I am so blessed to have my brother with me. Ben moved to Dewey, AZ. He has been my rock, really taking care of me and letting me have a couple tantrums. I keep judging myself that I am not handling this part so perfectly, he keeps reminding me it's okay and that I am human (not a super hero like I thought). He has even taken over the paperwork for the (sale) limited partnership of my business. My friends have also blown me away, I am so proud of you all. So proud to be your friend and watch you shine your love so bright, I am the luckiest (almost bald) woman in the world. Tlaquepaque pals are planning a BBQ fundraiser (eventually, still doing the sale at my house too).

Just to leave you with some sweet news, one of the tests yesterday was an ultrasound of my heart. The tech said it was a very beautiful heart. It was so wonderful to see my heart, it put alot into perspective. I love my heart, It was colorful, wild and so juicy. I looked for all of you in there and God. It was easy to see the whole world in my strong, beautiful, hard working heart. There isn't any soul separation to see such a miracle, how could there be anything but you, Love, God moving this masterpiece inside my chest.

I am not so good at returning calls, just come over, really. I have sign up sheets at the house if you want to pitch in, the main help will be needed after the mastectomy (which isn't scheduled yet). I know many of you are trying to respect my privacy and hide your tears, Poppy Cock (I just love to say that word, it is alot better than some others that have been generously flying out of my mouth) just get over here. I need your tears and your hugs and you jokes, your authenticity. I hate being alone right now (sometimes I need it). Love is everything, let's express it.

all love, all light, xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo loving you, Rev. Teri
PS. ladies go get a mammogram!

Tenant Meeting Thursday, August 13th at 8:45 a.m.

All employees and owners are welcome - we just ask that we get an RSVP so we have the right amount of caffeine and sugar available.

There is a large calendar of events that we have planned for the balance of this year and next year. I would like an opportunity to discuss the existing ones as well as some new ones that have been recommended and suggested by the tenants.

For example, discussion of a Customer Appreciation Day - for the First Friday in December - get the locals out here, free gift wrapping, etc.. and get them to shop for the holidays.
Other ideas -- "Don't be a Joker, Play Poker at Tlaquepaque " -- pick up cards at each store upon purchase - when you get a winning hand , the customer wins something....- or January Back Street Sale...Chocolate Walk for Mother's Day....

Here is the point, we are trying to get folks off the couch and down to Tlaquepaque - we would love to have you attend and hear your ideas. If the tenants don't buy into the programs, there is no point for me to spend anytime working on these ideas....

Lastly, everyone should have received a card detailing sales tax charges when shipping in state or out of state.....- when and who should be getting taxed. If the card got lost or buried - please advise and we will get you another one - but since this has been an on-going issues for years- this card is a great tool for all tenants and employees.

Many thanks and we hope to see you there - and let us know if you will attend.
