Oak Creek Bridge on SR 179
Oak Creek Bridge - Scheduled to arrive beginning this Monday, April 27, 33 box girders (concrete bridge spans) will be delivered over the course of the week. Eight to 12 over-sized trucks, each carrying one girder, will arrive in Sedona each morning, starting about 6 a.m. from Phoenix, via I-17 to SR 260 to SR 89A to SR 179. The trucks will be temporarily parked on SR 89A in a staging area just south of Brewer Road, as they wait for the girders to be put into place one at a time. Traffic will be shifted on SR 89A as it approaches the Brewer roundabout while still keeping two lanes of traffic on SR 89A open in both directions except when girders are moved from staging area. During the placement of the girders on the bridge, two-way traffic on the bridge will be maintained. Flaggers will be present to let the trucks carrying the girders in and out and to maintain traffic flow on SR 179. The area will be congested so please allow for extra time to pass through SR 179.Night Work and Lane Closures.
Night work is ongoing from Morgan Wash to Canyon Drive from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Sunday – Thursday nights for the next week to place a 16-inch water line. Traffic will be reduced to one lane and flaggers will be present. This work will include a rock saw, which creates a lot of noise. The work is being done at night to mitigate daytime traffic issues. ADOT and the contractor apologize in advance to the residents in the area and will do everything they can to minimize the duration of this nighttime activity.

Friday, May 1 will be the first Friday of the month and Tlaquepaque will have extended hours. Please remember to have your shops open until 7:00pm on this day.
We are witnessing more visitors and it is great when we have extended hours so they can enjoy Tlaquepaque in the evening hours. With three of our restaurants open until 9:00pm, many people enjoy shopping in the evenings.
Thank you for helping us support the First Friday events at Tlaquepaque.
Our First Concert was a Great Success!
Big Daddy & Dynamites were a great success on Sunday afternoon. Music rang through the Patio de las Campanas and throughout the Tlaquepaque Village. We saw an increase in shoppers and many of the shops had a great afternoon. We are so happy to have music playing in our village and appreciate all of those who helped make this happen. Now on to the Month of May for more great music at Tlaquepaque.

Tlaquepaque Toy Town to Open May 1
There is a lot of excitement in the A building with the news of our newest shop - Tlaquepaque Toy Town. Wendy and Max are opening this wonderful toy shop on May 1. Many tenants have noticed the colorful signs that have been installed at Suite A205. So many shoppers have already tried to shop there even thought the store is not yet open. This is a wonderful addition to our Tlaquepaque Village and a positive draw for all the stores on the 2nd floor in the A Building. Please wish Wendy and Max the best of luck and stop in and visit the shop after May 1.
Jill is on Dumpster Patrol
As we make every effort to help our environment and encourage our tenants to recycle all cardboard, paper, plastic, cans and glass, I find that I must sometimes be on Dumpster Patrol! Since we have so many shops, galleries and restaurants here, there are a large number of employees working at Tlaquepaque. Today we found 8 bags of paper in the dumpster along with a large amount of cardboard. Doing my environmental duty, I was able to remove the cardboard and paper from the dumpster and place the paper and cardboard in the recycling containers. These items will now be used again and will not be sitting in an Arizona landfill for 100+ years.
Please encourage your employees to put their waste in the correct containers. Tlaquepaque struggles to be more green on a daily basis and we depend on all the support from our owners, managers and employees. Do the right thing and Recycle!

ADOT Meeting on Wednesday, May 13
We will be having an ADOT meeting here on Wednesday, May 13 at 8:30am in the ballroom, La Sala de los Milagros, above Rene Restaurant. All tenants are invited to attend this meeting to discuss work on Highway 179 and the new Oak Creek bridge. This is very important that everyone attend this meeting so ADOT can hear US. We need to make sure they assign flaggers to help shoppers get inside and out of Tlaquepaque during the construction work that will be taking place within the next few weeks. Please put this meeting on your calendar and make sure you attend this important meeting.

Shakespeare Sedona Cancelled for 2009
Dear Patron and Supporter:
It is with profound regret that for Shakespeare Sedona’s 2009 Summer Season we will go on hiatus and present no shows. Due to the challenging economic downturn and a major drop in funding, the company will take a year to regroup. We will return in the summer of 2010 on a much better fiscal footing. Look for our 2010 season tickets to go on sale just after the New Year!
If you are passionate about Shakespeare's plays and want to see them, please consider going to the Mesa Arts Center in the Phoenix metro area to see Southwest Shakespeare Company's upcoming season in 2009-10. Visit: www.swshakespeare.org for more information.
Thanks to all of our supporters and patrons for staying with us during these hard economic times.
Sincerely
Jared Sakren

ABC 15 Looking for Sedona Deals to Promote
The Sedona Chamber of Commerce has been approached by ABC 15 to gather deals for their Smart Shopper segment to air in May. Here are some specifications directly from the show's producer:"For the whole month of May, Daphne, the Smart Shopper reporter, will be at a different store promoting a Deal of the Day during our6am and 5pm shows. We've had tons of really good discounts... likefree groceries, free meals, free lingerie, free chocolate, freestuff from Ikea, spas and tons more. The segment is more popular now than ever... So the exposure is phenomenal... So the Deal has to be just as awesome. Whatever discount you choose would only be good for the specificday you choose for us to be at your store, and it's only forviewers that have Smart Shopper cards. Also, viewers won't knowwhere to find the deal until it is revealed during our show the dayof, so we'll definitely have viewers excited and waiting to findout where they need to go for their discount. We're open to ideas, but remember many businesses are offering deals to keep their doorsopen. The Smart Shopper deal has to be better than what viewerscan find on their own. We won't be driving up to Sedona unless we have at least 4 good deals. We could have a week of Sedona deals... It would be great! We'd love to drive up!" If you are interested in participating in this opportunity for great exposure on ABC 15, please email your AMAZING offer by Monday April 20, 2009 at 3:00pm to Heather Hermen at hhermen@sedonachamber.com. If you have additional questions please call 928-204-1123.
