Weekend Jewelry Event with Steven Kretchmer Designs
April 2, 3 and 4, 2010

Opening Artist Reception is Friday April 2nd from 5-8 pm

Geoffrey Roth Gallery is featuring the signature tension set jewelry line of Steven Kretchmer Designs. Displayed in timeless designs with diamonds and gem stones and set in the only patented tension settings in the world.

Steven Kretchmer earned his bachelor of fine arts degree from Rhode Island School of Design and a master of fine arts degree from the University of Michigan. Steven worked at prestigious jewelry firms in New York and Milan where he met his wife Alma and his daughter Claudia. In 1991 Steven Kretchmer Design Inc. was founded in Los Angeles, California. During his career Steven had received numerous awards and was granted a number of patents for precious metal product inventions. Some of these include his well known tension set mountings. With a Tension-Set by Kretchmer the strength of the entire setting secures the stone in place with compression force of 12,000 pounds per square inch. “The exclusive alloys we blend have astonishing properties; our processes are patented, and are not available anywhere else but in our magical jewelry. We do whatever is necessary to achieve the design vision, while reaching an unrivaled quality.”

In 2006 after the tragic death of both her parents in one year, Claudia Kretchmer made the decision to take over the company. With her own Ph.D. in astrophysics almost completed and her industry experience she was a natural for the role. “My parents built such a wonderful company; I want it to continue to go forward.”

Take this wonderful opportunity to see the full line of Steven Kretchmer’s designs. Opening artist reception is Friday April 2nd from 5-8pm and running through Sunday April 4th. Visit us at http://www.geoffreyrothgallery.com/.

New Vintage Tibetan Penants at Cocopah

News on our offering of Tibetan beads and pendants at Cocopah. This past year it has proven difficult to locate interesting pieces at a reasonable price. It seems that much of what is available is not good quality and uses non-traditional materials such as synthetic opal, dyed turquoise, etc. Antique artifacts are impossible to find.

The group called 'Vintage Tibetan Pendants' was bought from a Tibetan who is also a collector who insisted they were 'vintage' but I feel very uncertain about the age of them. The coral used is definitely old and of very fine quality. The designs are exceptional. Some are double-sided with an entirely different design on the other side. If interested, request a scan of the other side.

The beads are made in Tibetan homes with no regular production. Usually you will never see the bead you fell in love with again. But that's the great bead game, I guess...the hunt and thrill of discovery.

All pendants except the small brass Buddhist pendants at $8.00 are one of a kind. The small brass pendants were sold to me as 'vintage' but once again, I'm uncertain of the age and don't want to pass along misinformation.

Hope your year is going well. We feel very positive about 2010 and have opened COCOPAH NORTH across the street from Tlaquepaque. We have a big oak bead stringing table and more beads. You are invited to join us for tea and free stringing lessons. Look for a new section about COCOPAH NORTH on the website soon. At COCOPAH NORTH we also have a collection of antique American patchwork quilts, New Guinea artifacts, Mission oak furniture, the work of Hopi artist, Delbridge Honanie, etc.
